I Caught You In The Darkness

Well I caught you in the darkness
You were trippin' on the light
The empty sounds of starkness
They made a crashin' in the night
You were lonely and I felt it
As you shivered in the cold
And my heart it simply melted
Never doin' what it's told

And your arms they felt like heaven
As they wrapped around the pain
There was peace, and there was pleasure
There was a soft morning rain

And then we'd run down the middle of Fortieth Street
You'd try to sprint ahead like a doe
Yeah it was three a.m. and it felt so sweet... no more

Yeah we used to sit so quiet
It was the summer of the year
In the smooth haze of a streetlight
I used to whisper in your ear
Sayin' things kinda silly
Just tryin' to be discreet
About the fire that burned within me
Another victim of the heat

And your kiss it felt like heaven
And I wanted it again
There was peace oh there was pleasure
There was a soft morning rain

And then we'd run down the middle of Fortieth Street
You'd try to sprint ahead like a doe
Yeah it was four a.m. and it felt so sweet... no more

Well you covered all the angles
And you knew what not to say
As you walked among the angels
In that certain silent way
How'd you get them not to notice
As you brightened up their day
With the presence of a novice
And the wisdom of the gray

And your kiss it felt like heaven
And I needed it again
There was peace, oh there was pleasure
There was a soft morning rain

And then we'd run down the middle of Fortieth Street...
